Special Briefing on New Study

Perspectives on Discriminatory Practices in Nursing

In one of the first studies to examine the relationship between race/ethnicity and the opportunities for promotion and the specific factors that foster job satisfaction, the Discrimination Research Center (DRC) collected survey data from over 1000 African American, Asian Pacific American, Latino, Filipino, and white registered nurses throughout California to capture the undocumented challenges that nurses of different ethnicities face.

Find out which ethnic group:
Was more likely than other nurses to state that they intended to pursue further education in the next three years
Was significantly more likely to say that the doctors they work with value a collaborative relationship
Stated that they had good working relationships with other nurses

And which ethnic group:
Reported barriers to opportunities for promotion
Was least likely to apply for promotion
Was most likely to report being denied a promotion

Come hear more about this important report!

DRC, with the generous support from The California Wellness Foundation and the Black Nurses Association of Inland Empire, will hold a special briefing for nurses and hospital administrators.
Date: Thursday, April 7
Time: 5:30 PM

Location: Community Hospital of San Bernardino, Henderson Auditorium
