Joyce Fairman was
born and raised in Los Angeles, California during a period when African Americans were called "Colored, and Negro people."
She completed her secondary education in Los Angeles' public school system. Her
love for community and heritage developed early in life by becoming involved in community and church. For more than 27 years,
she worked with a major telecommunications corporation, and retired in 1996 as an Account Executive Manager. The opportunities
afforded her during these years enhanced her professional attributes for business and helping others to succeed.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management from Redlands University, and Masters of Science
in Education from CSU San Bernardino. : She has held various professional positions throughout the corporation in training. She
has worked primarily with At-Risk teens and mature adults. She is a retired communications manager and during her career
in communication received awards for sales, training, communication, and product training. She has developed training
modules for customer service representatives, payroll processing, and corporate report processing and statistics. She
has conducted several training groups for teens and adults seeking career development, job placement, and verbal communication.
She has participated on advisory committees with the Colton-Redlands-Yucaipa ROP as well as instructed ROP classes in General
Business Occupation, and Business Office Applications. She is a mentor for precious troubled teens and young adults seeking
higher education.
She is active throughout the local community, mentoring at-risk teens, and adults, making herself available for
those seeking positive changes in their lives. She is currently an Outreach/Field representative with the African-American
Health Initiative (AAHI), San Bernardino County Medical Society-Inland Wellness, and Colton, California. She participated
in data gathering for AAHI's Residential and Provider Survey to make changes in the healthcare process in San Bernardino County,
a Strategic Planning committee member, and Public Forum committee. She is a member of two Toastmasters International
groups, Rialto and Colton.
Her formal education includes a Bachelors Degree in Business and Management from University of Redlands, Redlands,
California. She also is a University of Redlands Alumni member. Ms.
Fairman holds a Masters Degrees in Education, and currently pursuing her PhD.
She wants to establish a non-profit organization designed to enhance personal and professional development
skills; even more, assist individuals that desire employable skills for the workplace.
It has been her life's work, both personal and professional; to elevate and motivate the minds of African Americans
that they attains personal success, self-respectful, and knowledge of heritage.
She lives by and shares with other a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt that, “No one can make you feel
inferior without your permission", great words from a dynamic person.
